RE: how to keep dining table from sliding open?

We wedge a folded piece of paper in the extension to keep it from moving when traveling. It is easy to store and does not require anything permanent on the table. And when it wears out, just get a new piece of paper.l it is cheap and it works great. Have been using the same folded piece of paper for 4 years now.

RE: Where to Stop???????????

We stop at truck stops and use the truck pumps. We are just too long to get into regular pumps most of the time. When fueling at the truck pumps, fuel and then move your rig forward so the next person in line can use the pumps. Then go in and pay or pick up your receipt. The truckers are not unhappy with you fueling there if you follow that procedure.

RE: Stupidest thing you’ve done while RVing

We were on a motorcycle camping trip. While we were visiting relatives, we were going to take in a Cubs game. Rode all the way to Charlottesville, VA (150 miles) and realized we had forgotten the tickets (sold out game). Turned around, rode back to Va Beach and picked up the tickets. Ended up riding 550 miles that day. Next day we rode 700 miles to get to our destination.

RE: Disappointed about my local dealer

had the same problem with our local SunnyBrook dealer in Virginia. We saved a ton of money buying out of state. Local dealer was not interested in warranty work because we did not buy it there. That is their call. So we found an independent repair facility in our local area that SunnyBrook allowed to do the work. We paid for it up front and SunnyBrook reimbursed us. I suspect we received a better repair because he had a different approach in repairing the problem than SunnyBrook had.

RE: Orlando to NYC

I think there is toll bridge on 301 going southbound. It was $12.00 for our truck and 5th wheel but only $2.00 for cars. The bridge was narrow and steep, but no problem.

RE: Credit Cards

Purchase credit cards were implemented as a cost saving measure. No need to have lots of contract specialists when you have the purchase card. Is there abuse-yes. But in reality is is less that 1/2% of total purchases. That is still unacceptable.

RE: Gettysburg

Stayed at Gettysburg Campground last fall for a week. It is a good campground choice. Our 5th wheel is 40' and they were able to find a site for us.

RE: Too Many Birds!

We are in Va Beach and we call it bird happy hour. Every morning and evening the birds congregate in the campground. It is quite noisy. It seems that they have an established routine. The Candaian geese also fly over in the morning and then back again in the evening. Not sure why they do this, but is sure can make a mess.

RE: A question about features

Don't know about the electric steps as we have a 5th wheel. Had an outside shower and never used it. When we ordered our 5th wheel, we eliminated that option. I would spend the extra money for double pane windows. Helps keep the rv cooler in the summer and eliminates condensation in the winter. Also helps with noise pollution.

RE: I64 Route from OBX to Columbus Ohio

I-64 is just fine. You do have to deal with the toll road in WV. We have towed our 40ft 5th wheel that way several times and always see lots of other rvs. Take the by-pass around Richmond, VA.

RE: Setting up a new computer

Good luck with Vista. We have a new Dell computer and a Verizon Aircard. Any time we try to add a new program to the computer, Vista kills the aircard. We are going back to XP. At least it works.

RE: orginization tips needed

We use lots of Rubber Made type of containers in the RV. Large ones in the basement storage and shoe box sizes storage containers in the small overhead cabinets. In the kitchen, we use small plastic baskets for loose items. I must say we believe in organization, everything has a place and is put away after use. I could not live in a small place unless it was well organized.

We stayed there a couple of years ago and we were the only tenters there. We were traveling on our motorcycle. We found the place clean and friendly. They did not make us feel out of place in a tent.

RE: Need advice on Civil War trip planning

If you follow US 460 in Virginia, you will be in the area where the Army of Northern Virginia retreated from Petersburg to Appomattox Court House. All you have to do is follow the Civil War trails signs. Virginia is hot, humid, and buggy. We usually skip Spring and go right to hot. Gettysburg, PA and Fredericksburg, VA are two of the most beautiful places to visit. It is difficult to believe that so many people died there.

RE: Which Bridge Tunnel?

Birdneck Road is under construction and pretty narrow. In my opinion First Colonial to Oceana Blvd to General Booth is a better choice. Saturday traffic generally is better than weekday traffic but it also can be bad. I really does not matter which route you take because you will encounter either traffic, construction, or both any way you go. Are you going to Holiday Travel Park or the KOA?

RE: camping with porta-bote for the lake

We purchased one last year and will install it in the garage of our toyhauler. We also have a 5 hp gas motor and a trolling motor installed in the garage. We have the Harley, golf clubs, and bicycles back there too. Who says you cannot take your toys with you!
